We
make changes to our main menu every 10 to 12 weeks,
usually with the changing seasons, which reflects the
seasonal availability of various ingredients. Here is
the menu currently being served in February
2012, which is next likely to change around
Easter. We offer a wide variety of fish, sourced from Bridlington, Grimsby and further afield in the UK. We encourage our chefs to be creative, but never lose sight of providing well balanced home-style British cooking; comfort food, but prepared and presented with flair and panache. Our home made Steak in Ale pie, marinated overnight in best Yorkshire Bitter, is our top selling dish, with fresh haddock second. Belly Pork is also very popular while our top selling starter is fresh scallops on black pudding topped with bacon (see picture on the right). Being a true Yorkshire establishment, we don't do 'nouveau cuisine', but serve generous portions of our dishes - its rare for anyone to go home hungry from here! We do understand however that sometimes a huge feast isn't wanted and so we offer smaller sized 'light bite' portions of many dishes. Its unlikely that small toddlers can manage our meals - we are always happy to provide a small plate so they can share some of Mum or Dad's meals. ![]()
Gluten
Free Most
of our dishes either ARE already Gluten Free, or can
be prepared GF, usually by excluding products with
wheat in them. DESSERTS & HOT BEVERAGES
We
have a separate DESSERTS Menu which,
at this time of the year, has
mostly 'winter' dishes, such as
home made Jam Roly Poly, served with
our creamy custard, etc. We
often add new home-made desserts, when
our chefs get time to make
them. They always find
time to bake a couple of cheesecakes -
the most popular flavours at the
moment are white chocolate and
raspberry and chocolate orange - but
do ask what is available.
As our desserts are hand made to your order, we can vary desserts to include fresh cream, synthetic 'squirty' cream, our delicious creamy custard, brandy sauce or other garnishings, as you wish. Ask your server if there is something unusual you require and we shall do our best to oblige.
![]() COFFEE We currently use an 80% Arabica coffee bean as our main 'freshly ground' coffee. Caffeine-free coffee is also available. HOT CHOCOLATE. We have recently switched to Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate, which we serve in a large mug, with cream and a chocolate flake. TEAS & INFUSIONS We serve YORKSHIRE TEA, by Taylors of Harrogate, as our standard 'English Tea'. We also stock an extensive range of herbal and fruit teas.

roasted and hand carved meats,

We usually serve three choices from the following list - ROAST BEEF, ROAST LAMB, ROAST PORK, ROAST TURKEY, ROAST CHICKEN, ROAST GAMMON The
biggest problem with Roast
Lunches is having the roast
potatoes at satisfactory
quality - if we 'hold' them
too long after roasting they
go 'rubbery'. But they need
about 40 to 50 minutes to cook
in the oven, so we have
a problem of doing
enough to meet demand, but not
so many that we throw heaps of
them away. We therefore
try to cook enough
continuously all Sunday
afternoon until 5pm and then
go onto our regular menu plus
evening specials menu.

we don't try and make the Triton anything like a
kid's playground, well-behaved children are very
welcome to dine here, and many do.
There is a separate menu for those of our customers who are under 12 and can also make a children's version of many of the meals on our other menus - just ask one of our team. We do ask however that parents ensure that adults make sure that children do not run around, yell or shriek or otherwise annoy their fellow diners.
