July 9th 2010 Amsterslam Cyclists return to the Triton The
next charity cycle ride is expected at the Triton on the 9th July - mid
afternoon, en route to the continent.
The event is organised by CHARITY ADVENTURE whose web site (http://www.charityadventure.org.uk) tells more about this excellent venture who help many charities raise much needed funds. ![]() This ride is in aid of Jessie's Fund, a very worthwhile charity using music to help children. Their patron is Victoria Wood and bthey have a well regarded programme called SOUNDTRACKS which takes music into special needs schools. Read more about their work at http://www.jessiesfund.org.uk. The organisers hope to raise over £20,000 this year. All the volunteers love cycling, whether it's long-distances on road bikes, single-track mountain biking or just a daily commute. They believe in the CHARITY ADVENTURE ethos that organisations raising money for charity should do so without taking a cut of the money that is raised. 100% of the money that is raised by the riders goes to charity. Why not come along and wave them off? July 4th 2010 Rumblefest at the Triton We

venture who help many charities raise much needed funds. The Daffodil team (all girls and just three guys making up their support team) come from all over the UK - Liverpool, Birmingham, Gloucestershire, Norfolk, Lincoln and London included. The sun shone on both their visits and they made the Triton look even more attractive than normal as they cooled their tyres and quenched their thirsts on our front terrace. ![]() Their vivid yellow tabards and some very expensive bikes looked superb; it was lovely seeing them all enjoying the ride so much. The next charity cycle ride is expected at the Triton on the 9th July - mid afternoon. Its an event to raise money for JESSIES FUND, a charity which brings music to children in Special needs schools. Why not come along and wave them off? Monday 12th April Lady Piper at The Triton Friends
and family of Alasdair Woollen gave him a big surprise at The Triton
for his 65th birthday - a superb Birthday Dinner and
entertainment from a lady Scots piper in full regalia. The Piper's name is Liz Wainwright, and you will be seeing her at the Triton again! We can arrange all kinds of special treats as birthday surprises for your loved one. Anything at all, from just a simple cake or a bottle of Champagne, to a massed marching band, or even a fly-past by a WWII spitfire. Memorable birthdays and special events = The Triton. Monday 22 March New SPRING MENU is launched Some new dishes here never yet tried at The Triton, but
all in response to customer demand. We have introduced a new
section of Stir Fry dishes, where you select your choice of main
ingredients, and sepcial sauces and our chefs prepare the dish for
you. Also new fish dishes, Rib Eye Steaks, Mixed
Grill, Barnsley Chop and a new vegetarian meal - Spinach and Ricotta
Tortelloni. All the usual favourites are there too - including
our top selling lines such as Steak in Ale Pie, marinated overnight in
Wold Top Bitter, and North Atlantic Haddock with real hand cut chips.
And we still use only 'low trans fat' cooking oil. Thursday 11 March Charity Quiz Night The Triton was the
venue for a Charity Quiz Night on Thursday 11th March, to raise funds
for OSPREY. This is a local charity which raises funds for
Osteoporosis. There were some superb prizes on offer and about 95
took part. A great evening was had by all, with the main part of
the quiz being won by The Hyphens' team, and Sid's Squad coming a close
second (just 2 points separated them - winning score was 62 out
of a possible 69 with a dozen VERY hard questions!). Sid's squad did
win the Picture Round however. Over £900 was raised by the
evening; on behalf of the OSPREY committee, including Angela, Vanessa,
Sid, Lynn and Sue, we thank all who took part.
[OSPREY have arranged a further QUIZ NIGHT in the Autumn - look out for details on The Triton web site.] Friday 22 January 'Steak Special' night is back! Your chance to enjoy

Yorkshire's best female vocalists.
An awesome vocalist, a lovely personality, and she's gorgeous too! some great songs by contemporary artistes (Shania Twain, etc) Come and hear Jess sing, on Sunday evening (27th) from 8pm. Saturday 28th November Hessle Modern Jive Christmas Ball ![]() Another ' SOLD OUT' event at
the Triton, though this was only open to members of the
Hessle Modern Jive. Expertly
organised by Rod Wilson and Clair Chadwick and their team, they
were our
first
Christmas Party of the year and a splendid time was had by all.
Seventy guests sat down for a three course Christmas Dinner, which our
brigade of chefs turned out while still attending to regular Saturday
night diners in the Triton next door. We removed the tables in
the
ballroom during coffee and within 20 miniutes had the room cleared and
ready for the nights dancing. And those guys (and gals) can
REALLY
Dance. Hessle Modern Jive is a private club run by Rod and Clair (seen here on the left) and a small group of enthusiastic dancers, including the ever-lovely Tracey Oakes-Milner (on the right, dressed as a model!). Hessle Modern Jive meets every Wednesday in Hessle Town Hall, where they have expert dance tuition and demonstration sessions, often given by leading dance practitioners from all over the UK. Doors open 7.30 pm - 10.30 pm. Beginners are very welcome and beginners' classes begin at 7.45 pm. Intermediate classes and freestyle dancing follow afterwards. No special shoes or clothing are required and no partner is needed. Dancers rotate partners and introduce themselves during the classes. It's a excellent way to make new friends, keep fit and have great fun! Members ages range from 18 - 80. They are a friendly sociable bunch too! Entry on door is £7 and lifetime membership costs £2. Hessle Jive are back at
The Triton for their Summer Ball on Saturday 26th June 2010.
The Bishop in The Ballroom We
stage all kinds of events at the Triton, both public and private
meetings, and Tuesday 24th November was no exception, though it was a
rather special and quite exceptional evening. The Bishop of Hull, who is also
responsible for the Archdeaconry of the East Riding, held an open forum
evening for villagers of the Parish to meet with him and discuss a wide
range of matters. It was very well attended with several dozen parishioners coming to meet the Right Reverend Richard Frith, an interesting man who is only the twelfth person to hold the high office of Bishop of Hull in the 470 years since the post was created. A keen cricket fan, he is also a former Rector of Keynsham (spelt K-E-Y-N-S-H-A-M). His easy, warm manner soon won over the assembled members of the congregation from All Saints in Brantingham and he spoke enthusiastically on his own views, the church's current position, and answered many questions. Topics ranged from other faiths, some very core matters of Christianity, the inevitable spectre of female clergy and homosexuality in priests. Some lively and fascinating debate ensued and many said they thought the event should be repeated. Photograph by Tony Barker, of the East Riding Independent newspaper Jessica's Walk 2010 Almost
a hundred of Jessica Levine's friends and families met in Welton on
Saturday 14th November, a lovely fine sunny day, to
follow one of Jessica's favourite walks. We all plimped along Welton
High Road into Elloughton, up the dale and past a new bench
installed at the top of Elloughton Dale in Jessica's memory which had
been installed just the previous day. Then across the top and onto Spout Hill Lane by South Wold Farm before descending into Brantingham and the warmth of The Triton, where a lovely afternoon was spent remembering Jessica, her life and sad passing last Summer. For more details of the annual walk to remember Jessica, and for details of ways in which you can help support the MacMillan Nurses who helped Jessica in her final months, just click on Jessica's photo on the left Daffodil Girls cycle to The Triton. Fifty hard-pedalling
ladies from all over the UK descended on The Triton again this morning
(15th June) for the second time in five days. The Daffodil cycling team
spent an hour cooling their tyres (and quenching their thirsts) on our
new front terrace. It's always lovely to see any sort of blooms out and
Duty Manager Vince Mcpherson reported that these were exceptionally
beautiful!
This was their second visit in a week - this time
the girls were on the return leg of their ride to Amsterdam, where they
had what Sue called "a very enjoyable weekend, bit tiring
though!" With their team of support guys their route through
Brantingham was part of a 240 miles round trip from York to raise money
for the MacMillan Nurses. The Daffodil team come from all over
the UK - Liverpool, Birmingham, Gloucestershire, Norfolk, Lincoln and
London included and with just under 30 miles to go before the end
of the griuelling ride they were all in great spirits. They made quite a sight, respendent in their vivid yellow tabards and astride their very expensive bikes. "It was worth getting up today just to see them," said Triton assistant manager Luke Duerden as he waved them off to York in three groups. Last
year, Lunch on Christmas Day was filled pretty early with
very few tables remaining by the end of October. For full menu details
please see our CHRISTMAS
page. The Triton will close after the service of Christmas Day
Lunch, and will not be open on Christmas Night. On Boxing Day we start the day's festivities with the now traditional dance out by Yorkshire's best Morris dancing team, the Green Gingermen, who will be accompanied by their delightful Garland Ladies. Boxing day is a special family day and we have a special menu available all afternoon and into the early evening. Last food service will be around 7:30, after which The Triton will be closed on Boxing Day evening. The Triton Christmas Party Nights are also proving very popular - and last year many of the most popular dates such as Fridays and Saturdays were fully booked by party organisers for company Christmas Parties. The Thursday and Sunday parties got booked up early too, so be sure to reserve your places as soon as possible. Our Christmas programme of events and menus will be available very shortly. You can be added to the list to receive an early copy as soon as they are available, by telephoning, dropping us a line, or just emailing menus @ thetritoninn.com with your contact details. (These will not be sold to any mailing list sellers, or used for any other purpose but to send you information about events at The Triton Inn.) See also the information on our Christmas page - just click on Santa to be redirected there. Porsche Club's Wolds Wander "a great success." The Porsche Club of Great Britain
organised their Wolds Wander to start from the Triton on Sunday 17th
May. The cars (and owners!) assembled at The Triton from 9 am
onwards, enjoying the brilliant Brantingham sunshine, our best bacon
sandwiches and the suual variety of hot drinks, prior to their
being despatched. Organiser Andrew Warner pronouned the run a " a great success" with no cars getting llost or breaking down en route. The run finished at Malton in the early afternoon. The Porsche Club of Great Britain is a non profit making organisation formed in 1961. It is the only such organisation officially recoignised by Porsche and raises money for charity and offers a variety of benefits for its members - more details can be found at the club's web-site: http://testpcgb.adnet.co.uk/AboutPCGB/Commercial.aspx ![]() some of the Porsches leaving The Triton on

Heads car club have an informal gathering at the
Triton on the third Monday of each month. They normally gather
from 7pm onwards - cars among the regulars include a Ferrari 348,
Porsche 996 GT2, several TVR's and a VXR220. It is attended mainly by
people from Pistonheads.com and the East Yorks lot are a good bunch,
with anyone being welcome. Its organised by TOM who has a gorgeous red

and don't forget - Wednesday 1st July East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club's Classic Car Night Over 50 superb classic cars on the car park 'la concourse' from 6 to 9pm SPECTATORS WELCOME - don't forget your camera! always some superb motors at The Triton - home of the hot-wheels, glowing tail pipes and esoteric number plates! Sixties Dinner Dances Our 'Sounds of the
Sixties' Dinner dances have proved a great success with diners enjoying
a sumptuous three course meal, during which we play laid-back
easy-listening tunes, and then afterwards, dancing to your favourite
sounds of the 1960s. Your host Paul spins music by all the big name artistes such as the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the Kinks, Small Faces, plus a host of Tamla Motown and soul / disco tracks too, not to mention some pretty obscure but much lloved favourites that someonhow never seem to get an airing these days. With his record collection boasting over 66,000 items, there isn't much he cannot lay his hands on - why not challenge him to play YOUR favourite? Gauged by requests,
and by how many filled the
floor to dance to them, the most popular tracks seem to be the dance
hall standards such as Chris Montez's Lets
Dance, Little Eva's Locomotion,
Free's All Right Now, and the
Crystals' Da Do Ron Ron - all
evoking memories of nights at the Locarno
Ballroom, The Trees
club in North Ferriby or the Westfield
Club in Cottingham. In April we tried a couple of 'Fabulous Fifties' nights too, but these did not prove so popular - perhaps people who remember the fifties are all too old to dance? In May we added some seventies music to the night and this proved very popular, especially tracks from Abba and Saturday Night Fever - presumably everyone has been to see the stage shows recently! You don't have to come dressed 'in period', though if you do then you may win a spot prize for your efforts and style - which may be why Austin Powers tries so hard! The Dinner Dances include a waiter-served, individually prepared, three course meal with all our drinks being at regular bar prices, plus some special offers on wines and champagnes. This is an excellent way tlo give someone (and yourself) a great night out; for latest table availability call us on 01482 667261. . . .NEWS ARCHIVE . . .NEWS ARCHIVE . . . .NEWS ARCHIVE . . the final ones for the season - with a new weekly tea dance to be

@ thetritoninn.com.The Triton voted RESTAURANT of the YEAR ! by Hull Daily Mail readers. 21 November 2008 The Hull Daily Mail's annual Restaurant of the Year awards were announced today and contained a lovely surprise: in the 'readers choice' category, The Triton has been voted Restaurant of the Year. We are all very touched and wish to sincerely thank all our customers who cast their vote for us. We value this far more than any other category - its the ultimate accolade - our customers, who are the very reasomn we are in business. We don't chase Michelin Stars, we don't try to concoct difficult dishes to impress other restauranteurs, we just serve up nice food that's popular with our customers who are ordinary East Yorkshire folk. Each dish is individually prepared using fresh local ingredients and offered at a reasonable price. The following day,
i.e. the night before New Year's Eve (its Tuesday 30th December)
we
have a special James Bond theme
night. On Monday 3rd we had a James Bond theme night to celebrate a special birthday for a guest. All the guests came in character and you can see some of them in our picture here (left). A couple of dozen assorted Bonds, a couple of Pussy Galores (and both those were guys!), the inevitable girl in a bikini, a terrific Oddjob, even Blofeld's white cat! They all looked pretty fabulous and had a terrific time. So we have decided to do this again as a special Christmas treat for our customers. On the day before New Year's Eve - thats Tuesday 30th December, and it will be a Bond Special Dinner Dance in the Triton ballroom. All the ladies like dressing up, and many of the guys do too. We expect most of the men to come as James Bond (Ian Fleming MUST have modeled those books on most of our male customers, and we can see the template for many of his best Bond girls in our female guests too!). There will be prizes for the best Bond and for the best supporting character. the possibilities are endless - so many wonderful characters in the (22?) Bond movies. Goldfinger, Oddjob, NickNack, Miss MoneyPenny, the many bikini girls, Octopussy, . . who do YOU do? Get rummaging in that dressing up box and drag out your favourite costume, no matter how tenuous the link with James Bond. Paul will be hosting the evening, dressed as a character from a film that could have been moddelled on him (but was actually modelled on Simon Dee - if you're old enough to remember who he is). And no, it's certainly NOT Tarzan, nor Barbarella! Guests at the Bond
Dinner Dance will receive a complimentary vodkatini on arrival (shaken,
not
stirred) a four course dinner, and there will be a Bond quiz, as well
as prizes for the best Bond (voted by the ladies!) and support
character (voted by the Bonds). Do bring your favourite Aston Martin - we have plenty of parking (and you can leave it overnight!) but please, imitation weapons only, and no combat on the premises! CLICK HERE for a mini poster describing the James Bond 007 Dinner Dance. On New Years Eve we have a superb Dinner Party to welcome in the New Year, with live music from the superb SAX APPEAL and disco dancing with your host Paul until 1 am. Its a six course meal including champagne to toast the arrival of 2009, but places are limited and its already two thirds full, so book now to avoid disappointment.
WORK NOW COMPLETED
NEW TERRACE /PATIO OPERATIONAL (all we need is sunshine) Refurbishment -
PHASE IIWork finally got underway on Monday 16th June to reconstruct the toilets at the Triton, which are now completed and fully in use. We also have a new rear corridor, enclosed and much more comfortable (and cheerful!) In September work commenced on the construction of a new patio to the front of the building and new entrances to each door. We are also taking the opportunity to further enhance the Triton by adding two large jumbrellas to the front which will be equipped with light and heat, to enable those who like to dine al fresco and those who like to partake of a cigar or cigarette after their meal to do so outside whatever the weather. This work will be completed by the end of September. Some pictures of the work and new patio will appear here shortly ![]() ![]() The patio was
completed on 1st October (just in time for the late running Summer!)
and will now be furnished with large planters, tables and
chairs. Our staff have tested the efficacy of the heating
arrangements by lounging around underneath them in swim-suits! Martin,
our follicly challenged Pastry Chef almost got sunburned on his
head. Regular Alan Hillary from Brough chained his trusty old
bike up to the post quickly and thinks the heating is just to keep bike
saddles warm on a cold night while he has a a few drinks! It's well known that The Triton is haunted by several ghosts and we wondered whether any human remains might be found while excavating the area of car park used to construct the patio, but, unlike Brookside, there does seem to be no bodies under the patio. We do however have a fair few spirits at the Triton - several customers and former staff have seen several ghostly apparitions. The most common is the lady in 18th century garb tending the fire, while the man on a b rown horse peering in the bar window has been seen by several, while fewer have seen the poorly little boy in bed upstairs. All the contractors found when they dug outside were the telephone cables (twice!) and an assortment of old drains. As the car park was only laid down in the early 1970s that's probably to be expected. Fashion Show This took place on Tuesday 16th September and was a sell out. SIB Blings of Kirk Ella had a team of tots and children model their latest children's fashions, with commentary by Jill. The fashions only turned up on the day of the show, and are now all on sale in their boutique , next door to the old Post office in Packman drive - opposite St ANdrew's Church. Crave Boutique of Prestongate Hessle formed the next presentation, with some very slick models showing their latest range of fashions and accessories, ably described by one of crave's owners, Vicky. We had a charity draw for various unique and quite valuable items - champagne, vouchers, designer handbag, meals at the Triton etc, donated by the boutiques, The Triton and also Walker & Walker accountants. The final presentation was of underwear by Serenity Boutique, which went very well despite some models failing to appear. Full marks to the brave models who did turn up and entertained very well, and were getting changed in a marquee on the car park - where it can get quite chilly at this time of the year. ![]() Andy Cornfoot live in the bar Great covers of Beatles, Dylan, Shania Twain, etc FREE ADMISSION Andy Cornfoot is a terrific local singer songwriter who performed his first gig here in February. It went down very well - so well that many customers (and staff) bought copies of his CD. Andy won the Hull Talent trail two years ago and has built up a strong following among local music fans. His influences include the Stones, the Beatles, Oasis and Bob Dylan. He does covers of some of their songs and a good few of his own (Blue Jeans is terrific track - check it out on our music system at the Triton most evenings) and others. You can see Andy live at the Triton on Friday 14th March; his first set will be about 8.30, with a second set at about 9.45. Bound to include a fair sprinkling of tunes from the 60s to the present day. The gig is in the bar and its FREE ADMISSION. See you there we hope. Some recent events at The Triton ![]() SAX APPEAL Live outside The Triton ! It was so hot on Sunday afternoon (8th June) that we didn't think many would want to sit in the restaurant for their lunch - it does get rather hot in there being mainly glass on two sides. So our jazz artistes SAX APPEAL agreed to set up and play outside at the front of The Triton. It was a superb gig, a lovely atmosphere with Caz's dreamy vocals and Jake's soulful sax serenading the al fresco diners and drinkers with their sizzling syncopation. Hopefully we shall have a lot more hot days this summer and be able to feature more outdoor entertainment. NEW TO THE TRITON Tuesday 22nd July Folk Tuesday
Singing, Dancing and story telling in the traditional way with
Green Ginger Sword and Dance and their GARLAND LADIES all welcome - from 7.30 onwards Admission FREE Traditional May Day at The Triton The May Day weekend traditionally marked the beginning of Summer (for hundreds of years before the Government moved that to some later date in June, perhaps as a prelude to their 'global warming' excuse for more taxes?). The ladies of the village would make garlands of flowers and dance with them, to bring on hot sunshine to grow better crops. The Triton marked the May Day weekend by celebrating in the traditional Olde English way with the help of the Green Ginger Morris & Sword. Authentic old English music and Dancing at The Triton, and the Green Ginger men was, as usual, augmented by their delightful Garland Ladies. Several dozen customers provided an appreciative audience and one or two even got up and joined in with the festivities. The Green Ginger Morris & Sword are East Yorkshire's leading exponents of their art and have danced here at The Triton for many years on Boxing Day. You can find a fully illustrated report about the Boxing Day dance out on the Green Ginger Morris and Sword's web site (just click to be taken straight to it - but come back here soon!). PS If you can't find the MAY DAY Bank Holiday weekend in your diary, that's probably because the Government have now renamed it EARLY SPRING BANK HOLIDAY. Same day, its still a public holiday - but its May Day holiday to us. We were going to have a maypole too, but you can probably imagine how difficult it would be to get approval from the 'Health & Safety' brigade for that! Planning permission, risk assessment, ambulance standing by, insurance cover in place, extra police drafted in, and probably a corresponding dance for non-pagans who we must not cause any offence to! In response to several request from customers The Triton will be offering a special rate for food at tea time: every weekday from 5pm to 6.30, we are now offering a 20% discount - that's off all meals right across the menu! Starters / Main Courses / Desserts and specials too - a straight 20% off your food bill. (Not available in conjunction with other promotions). New Menu and Wine List imminent STOP PRESS - New menus operational from 22nd April We changed to a late Spring menu towards the end of April. It features a new section of 'healthy eating options' with some great new ideas from our chefs. We have taken note of the many suggestions, requests and comments received from our customers and these are reflected in the new menu. Copies to take away are always available at The Triton, or we can mail one to you - just send us an email or call and leave your address and we shall mail one to you. Alternatively, you can download a copy by clicking on the logo of the menu alongside. We have also expanded our Wine List to offer some more 'new world' wines which have proved very popular. The increasingly unfavourable exchange rate of the Euro means that many French wines are now much more expensive - some of our new Californian, South American and Australian wines offer much better value for money. Details of the new wines will be found on our wines page shortly. UPDATE Our current MENU can be seen here and our new WINE LIST can be accessed by clicking on just those words. (Restaurant menu is still being debated and revised - an eternally ongoing project!). Call My Quaff - a wine tasting with a difference! At The Triton we try to generate a lively social atmosphere based on a simple philosophy: life is meant to be enjoyed and our duty is to help our customers enjoy it to the full! "Call My Quaff" is a great evening of entertainment mixed with wine tasting. While you will certainly learn something new about wines; this is not a stuffy formal wine lecture - rather a pleasant laid back evening where three wine lovers will bluff and mislead you in a series of wacky blind tastings. Its a rather intemperate vinous variation on the time-honoured quiz game, "Call My Bluff". Our own motley panel of wine aficionados will be competing with each other to baffle the audience - who are the real winners. Our last 'Call My Quaff" session was very popular and we have finally managed to book the perpetrators* once again. This time its to take place on Thursday 10th April, once again in the stylish and newly refurbished Triton restaurant (recently refurnished with again, with new tables). We can seat all sizes of party - from twos, fours, up to 20 people in one party - or you can book the entire restaurant for yourself! The format is as follows: The trio of wine experts will describe the mystery wines and their type, source, etc but two of them will be lying and you have to decide who is telling the truth, by drinking each of the wines! There are appropriate prizes for the winners and everyone has at least a one in three chance of getting the answers correct, so wine novices need not feel intimidated! Enjoy a some fabulous food (the Triton’s famous luxury four course buffet) and a some superb Wines. Convivial company, and great fun, a full evening out that you will remember for a long time, and just £19 per person. * The 'perpetrators' of Call My Quaff on 10th April will be Paul Livesy, a wine connoisseur and 'fine wines specialist' for a national wine vintners (oh, OK then: Waverley TBS!) Sue Hyde - a Brough resident and with decades of experience in the on trade - having spent lengthy periods at both sides of the bar, and Peter Hall. All three know their subject very well and their knowledge of wines is legendary - but who is telling the truth and who is bluffing? IMPORTANT NOTE you will probably drink six or more wines - so please pre-arrange transport home ANDY CORNFOOT BACK AT THE TRITON One
of East Yorkshire's best new talents is back at the
Triton again on Friday 14th March and again later in April. Andy Cornfoot is a terrific local singer songwriter who performed his first gig here in February. (Click on Andy's Picture to download a mini poster with more details) Vote for your favourite lager We withdrew C2 (half alcohol Carling) lager recently and are considering which product to replace it with. To be certain of choosing one that our customers want we are currently having our own election at The Triton, where customers can VOTE for their favourite out of a list of seven lagers. The list includes Leffe, Staropramen, Kronenbourg 1664, San Miguel, Amstel, Hoegaarden and Becks Vier. We shall look at the votes on Good friday, and then decide which lager we shall bring on line on draught at The Triton, to enjoy the others - Carling, Stella Artois and Coors Fine Lite. All the votes will hen be put into a draw and the lucky winner will receive a case of lager (to be enjoyed at home, not in The Triton!). Make sure you ask our bar staff for your entry / voting form, and get it into the ballot box as soon as possib le. Thanks for your input, and Good Luck in the draw! STOP PRESS - the draw was made on Easter Sunday by our own bar-star, Leanne Thompson. Paul Coverdale of Station Road in South Cave carries off the prize of a case of lager. Voting was very close - it is neck and neck between San Miguel and Kronenbourg 1664 and we shall make a final decision on our new lager in the next few days. New Pink Sax for Jake Triton Restaurant
regular entertainers SAX APPEAL have a new instrument in their armoury
- a bright pink saxophone! Jake featured it at The Triton for the first
time on Valentine's Day, and again at their March Sunday Afternoon
Dinner Jazz gig here on March 9th. It sounds terrific, very funky
indeed. We think it sounds especially brilliant when he plays The Theme
from The Pink Panther on it - but come along and hear for
yourself. Sax Appeal's next Sunday Afternoon Jazz Session is on April 13th. There is no cover charge - just buy your own Sunday Lunch from our restaurant menu (or have someone else buy it for you!). We recommend that you book a table as soon as possible as about half the tables have already been reserved. Sax Appeal perform several sets from 2:30 to 5:30. Sax Appeal also perform at weddings, and have done so all over the world. You can find more information about them on their web site: Valentine's Night SOLD OUT Our
special evening for lovers in Poseidon's Restaurant is now fully sold
out. We have two tables left in the lounge for the same
menu, but at a lower price. We have not reserved any tables in the Triton Bar on Valentine's Night - where we shall be serving our normal menu, but on a 'first come-first served' basis. We open at 5pm as usual, and we can only wish you 'Good Luck' in getting a table - we are sure you will understand that on such a busy evening we cannot keep tables empty and open for long periods. By all means call us during the evening to see what availability is in the bar. Click on the menu mini-pic here to see a copy of our Valentine's Day menu (the same food is also available in the restaurant on Friday - we currently have some tables still open for Friday and Saturday) New Restaurant menu <>
We
are currently revising our bar menu and hope to publish a new one
during early March - watch this space! Our
new chef Robert Stratton has devised an excellent new menu for
our restaurant and its now available. You can see it by clicking
the icon on the right. The dishes are absolutely first class,
using the best of local ingredients and of course, all dishes are
freshly and individually prepared. Forget the various food guides - they are probably months out of date (although the Hull Daily Mail on January 26th said that " "). Listen to what your friends say; and if they have been here recently they will probably tell you that The Triton serves great quality food, its pretty good value for money and they always make you welcome. Then come and judge for yourself - we are pretty sure that you will be satisfied. Click on the menu image above to download
a PDF of the new menu.

"CALL MY QUAFF " RETURNS A very special wine tasting and gourmet food night, back at the Triton again in April. Featuring an experienced panel of wine experts, a lot of fun, some great wines to try and superb food. We shall be providing our luxury hot buffet and you will be expected to try perhaps half a dozen excellent wines. Mark the date in your diary - its Thursday the 10th April. Call now to book our table 01482 667261 .....FISH TUESDAY IS A GREAT SUCCESS Being
named after a sea god, The Triton simply had to develop the menu so we
could offer some excellent fish dishes. Each Tuesday is now FISH
TUESDAY at the Triton when, in addition to our regular menu, we
also offer several 'specials'. These are usually a couple of sea fish,
some fresh water fish and sea food such as lobster, crab, etc. These
have proved so successful that we now find ourselves offering half a
dozen special fish dishes each Tuesday. Our suppliers recognise
the value of the Triton's Fish Gourmets (we have several fishing
industry luminaries among our clientele who know a thing or two about
fish) and often make special new dishes available to us
first. There are often some great bargains to be had! Or why not try our 'Banquet of the Oceans' - a huge platter (designed for 2 people to share, but some say that it's enough for 4!). A whole shoal of sea and fresh fish plus some sea food too - ask for details. ....CHRISTMAS BOOKINGS Our
