during the renovations ![]() ![]() ![]() There's always a warm welcome at The Triton, where we believe that the art of making people welcome is one worth preserving. Contractors and suppliers involved in the current renovations and rebuilding work at The Triton include:

A team of
26 craftsmen (builders, plumbers, electricians, decorators,
carpenters, french polishers, tilers and others) spent the first
quarter
of 2007 lovingly restoring The Triton to its former glory
. . and taken it several steps further to becoming a beautiful
traditional old British pub with a smart, elegant restaurant. The old bar areas have now been opened up to let in more light through the entrance, new floorings (of quarry tiles, polished wooden floorboards and carpeted areas) have been laid, the walls stripped back and reformed, new ceilings have been installed and the the entire place redecorated and refurnished. We removed several tons of old light coloured wooden paneling and wainscoting (many of our regulars thought it looked like the inside of a sauna!) and replaced this with more traditional oak paneling and some areas of modern plaster walls. The lighting has all been replaced by modern, controllable lamps that give a more comfortable feel and a much improved ambiance. The old furniture has been replaced by more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing leather seating, being a mixture of tub chairs, high backs, stools and traditional fixed seating. Even the tables have been changed and you can now choose from a much wider variety of shapes and sizes. The bar is fully operational and offers not only two cask ales, keg beers, a range of premium, regular and low-alcohol lagers on draught, plus a wide range of bottled drinks, minerals and around sixty wines - two deozen of them being available by the glass. The lounge bar now also features two fires and a variety of traditional games are available at one end - though we do not offer the more energetic games of pool, darts, etc. . The old conservatory bar has been completely revamped, with modern colours, a more contemporary feel to the decor and the furniture and three booths - much larger and more comfortable than the old ones. The old "bar with a roof" has been replaced by a more traditional structure, but with a modern twist. It has a full hot beverage service staffed by fully trained baristas - just the place for afternoon tea or coffee, or a meal. We have however retained the ever popular alcove, in fact we have made it even more attractive. If you want to book this 8 seater 'special corner' be sure to make your reservation early. The former 'Brantingham Room" has now had a full makeover and will be known as the new restaurant. Students of Greek mythology will tell you that Poseidon was the father of Triton and in honour of this family of sea gods we are introducing several popular sea food dishes to our a-la-carte menu. The restaurant also features a grand piano and relaxing music to dine by. The decor in the restaurant is simply breath-taking and beautifully complements the table furniture, the gleaming crockery and silverware, the crisp napery and the attentive full service team who will make your meal a special occasion. ![]() Phase
Two of our renovations will take place this spring (2008). This will
include new toilets, improvements to the lounge, a new patio outside
the bar, a new decking area outside the lounge, facilities for smokers
and tidying up the gardens and car park area.
