Table Reservations

<>
Table number
Our tables are not unlimited in number and it is advisable to book at busy times, or if there is a particular table you require. We are delighted to reserve your favourite table at a particular time for you.  This applies to tables in the Bar-Lounge, in the restaurant and the ballroom.  We can usually accommodate parties arriving without a reservation, but at very busy times this may entail a wait for a table as we never rush our customers out.

The Triton Layout
The Triton has been serving food and drink since at least 1724, and maybe longer. During that time it has grown in size and seen changes to the layout over many of the years. We have one room that has had at least five different names in the last couple of decades.  Just to help you when booking a table and deciding which room you would like to sit in, here is the layout today, as viewed left to right from the front of the Triton:

CHILDREN POLICY
Well-behaved children are welcome in the Triton bar, but the law says they must be accompanied at all times - that means they must NOT run around (as few parents have the energy to keep up with them).  We treat children like adults, which means they must behave as grown ups too -  those who shout, cry or scream will be asked to leave, just as we do with adults.  Meals in the restaurant usually last a lot longer and its usually unfair to ask children to remain still and quite for long, so we tend not to book parties with children into the restaurant.

LARGE PARTIES
If you need a table for a large party (6 or more) please call in advance if possible, as this may require us to combine two or more adjacent tables.  Its no trouble, we are happy to do so, but it helps if we know in advance so we can arrange for adjacent tables to become available.

Some of our customers like to be seated by one of the fires (e.g. Table 5), some like to be in front of a window (T6 and 15) while the romantic chaps always get their lady a nice cosy table in the corner! (Tables 16 or 19 are favourites for courting couples - maybe they have special properties?).  Our most popular tables are The Alcove (T21) which can seat 8 or 10 quite easilly,  the booths on the far side of the restaurant, especially the middle booth (T31) and the window booth (T32).

We shall always do our best to accommodate you at your favourite table;
but a bit of notice is very helpful and we thank you for this.

Your Telephone Number?
We often ask for a telephone number when accepting table reservations - mainly to ensure we can contact you in the case of any unforeseen circumstance (such as an emergency closure, due to flooding or fire)  but also to screen out the vexatious callers who like us to have empty tables awaiting non existant customers (some people have a strange sense of humour!)  While we may keep telephone numbers in our diary, we would only ever use these internally and you can rest assured that we would NEVER disclose these to any third party.

SERVICE CHARGES?
We do not add a service charge to bills at the Triton - if you wish to reward our staff for giving you good service we believe that should be your prerogative.  The staff have a box for gratuities at each till and these are divided among the team. The Triton does not receive any tips, nor even a cut of the tips and these are all shared among the Triton's staff

There's always a warm welcome at The Triton,
where we believe that the art of making people welcome is one worth preserving.
