THE TRITON TEAM The Triton team are one of
the
establishment's star attractions. They are often the reason our
customers select us for their fine dining experience, and why they come
back time after time. The Triton's first class reputation was
built on top quality service, and for many years was the flagship
of the Jackson's' chain of Eating Houses, which included the Ferguson
Fawcett at Walkington, the Pipe and Glass at South Dalton and the Dacre
Arms at Brandesburton.
We have built a strong team of experienced hospitality staff capable of preparing either traditional pub fare, or first class a la carte meals and banquets. When we took over the Triton we had no staff, enabling us to start again and build a new team from scratch. Having been regular customers at the Triton ourselves, as well as at selected other restaurants in the area for around twenty years, we were able to carefully select the first class team we wanted, using the best staff available, capable of achieving and maintaining high standards. ![]() Leading the team 'front of
house' are The Triton's General Managers Dawn
and Vince.
Dawn graduated with a BSc Hons degree in geography from of St Andrew's University; while studying there she worked with Vince at such famous hostelries as The Victoria and at some of the golf clubs for which the town of St Andrews is renowned the world over. Vince is a graduate from the University of Edinburgh and a native of the ancient Kingdom of Fife. He is also a nutrition and exercise expert who until recently was putting students at York University through their paces. Dawn is now studying to be a lawyer and ensures that all compliance and regulatory matters at The Triton are completely up to date. Vince managing in the bar
In charge of the restaurant and food operations is Guy Tolland who was formerly the
Maitre'D at Medici's, a very well known
restaurant
just up the A63 so here is a shot of him arriving for work
at 7am.at North Ferriby and many of our customers remember
him from there. Before that Guy was manager at the renowned and
sadly-missed Exchange on St. Andrew's Quay in Hull. That was bullzoed a
couple of years ago to make way for the new retail development
(the site is now occupied by a Curry's store and a branch of an
international franchise operation - Frankie & Benny's). After that guy worked for a while at the Sailmakers Arms on St Andrew's Quay and also at a couple of restaurants out in remotest in Holderness. Some years ago Guy was also Training Manager for Allied Domecq, one of the UK's leading hospitality chains. Guy originally comes from the Wirral and is a keen Liverpool FC supporter which means that he is always being ready for ups and downs! He probably works more hours than anyone else and cycles ten miles to work each morning - that's real dedication. Guy heads up a formidable kitchen team, which is led by one of East Yorkshire's best chefs - Robert Stratton. ![]() Rob has has a wealth of expertise as Head Chef at many leading restaurants and hotels, including Rowley Manor Hotel, The Cave Castle Hotel and the Weir Bar & Grill in Hessle. Rob's cooking is simply amazing and absolutely delicious as patrons of the Triton restaurant will confirm. His favourite food to work on is venison, so its a big shame that the Triton's customers don't go for that much (the few times we had it on the menu it didn't sell at all - we ate it all ourselves!) Rob is also a dab hand (fin?) with fish and excellent 'on the pans'. He has been very busy recently getting a new Table d'Hote menu sorted out and claims that he hasn't got time for posing for the camera so here is a shot of him arriving for work at 7am. Elliot, Jonathan and the Jason (now AWOL) ![]() Our team also includes the very versatile Jonathan Holland who has just completed his chef's qualifications at the college in Hull. Jon's only quirk is that he is a Chelski supporter, but he is a great versatile chef who has worked at the nearby prestigious Black Horse of Ellerker, so he is used to working on food of a high standard. A new and important
part of our kitchen brigade is North Newbald's very own Martin McDonald (seen on the right)
who
has cheffed at
such establishments as the Cave Castle Hotel and the Duke of Cumberland
in North Ferriby. Martin is a first class pastry chef and he
designs and produces our new range of mouth watering desserts, all home
made of course. He is another keen cyclist, biking in from
Newbald every morning and is usually one of the first to arrive. Our brigade of chefs (yes, there are a few nuts in our kitchen!) are assisted by a merry band of young men and ladies: of prime importance is one of our longest serving Kitchen Assistants, Elliot Howell from Elloughton, who can turn his hand to mostt dishes, especially starters and salads. Scott Foxhall, Chris Jackson, Ben Johnson, Andy Sutton and Ryan MacPherson plus a few more who don't want their names mentioning (we are all very modest and shy at the Triton!). All are proud Yorkshiremen and live in nearby villages of Brough, Elloughton, South Cave, Newbald, etc. 'Front of House' ![]() Welcoming you to The Triton is likely to be one of our 'Front of House' team. Members of our FOH team are all welcomers (a very important job at the Triton), waitresses, bar staff and table clearers - we all do the same jobs. Rachel Jones (also known as Raquel) is a key team leader and has worked at some other local hostelries too. She lives in South Cave and is now fully qualified having recently achieved NVQs in catering and hospitality and always has a cheery smile and greeting. ![]() We also have a second Rachel, the charming Miss Rachel Wood, seen here with her colleague LLT (Lovely Leanne Thompson) but both are usually away at University during term time and we only see them during the holidays. It's a good job they get such long holidays! They are ably assisted by Luke (who is seen below with his ever welcoming smile). Luke is our second Liverpool FC fan and if he is missing on Saturdays its because he is traveling the length and breadth of the country watching either the Tigers of those boys in red. His Sundays off are spent playing in local football games. Amanda Major and Heidi Clark both
come in as often as they can but do have day time jobs to hold down -
and both live in Brough as well.
They are both very experienced in their arts and cvan usually serve
three different customers at once (while sending a text message and
haggling over next week's rota!). Both Heidi and Amanda have lived in the area for many years so you might know them: Amanda (thats her on the left) used to work in the Leapfrog Nursery in Brough so has probably looked after you or your children at some time in the past - she is certainly good at keeping the young boys in the kitchen in check when they are being naughty. Her hobbies include sampling Stella and nights out in such exotic places as Leeds and Manchester. ![]() We are also delighted to have Brantingham village's very own Sophie Wyatt on our team, senn on the right. She has a fair bit of wanderlust and has just returned from a few months wandering the Antipoedes, but is now back 'in harness' to the delight of all the guys at the Triton. Sophie is a Hymers College old girl, a very accomplished hockey player and one of the nicest girls you could hope to meet (thats what she told us to say!). Among our latest
recruits are Lisa Boardman, a
keen horsewoman, and her young sister Rachel. Queen of the hairstyles is Alex Smith who is from Eastrington and now lives in North Cave (seen on the right, ready for home). She always looks immaculate, very trendy and happy to be at The Triton, as you can see from this shot on the left. Completing our front of house team are three great young guys called Patrick Carty, Albert Weatherill and Michael Willey - all three are also old Hymerians coincidentally and all keen to welcome YOU to the Triton. But whoever serves
you at The Triton,
you can be sure they will give you a warm welcome. Luke Duerden and his ever welcoming
smile |
CURRENT VACANCIES At the Triton,

If you feel you have what it takes to join our team, we would be happy to hear from you. We are interested in talking to you if you think you may fit the bill outlined above and could serve in one of these roles:
